Meet Our Team 
Heather Waters
University of Massachusetts Lowell

Heather is a Managing Partner and Director of our Reading Clinic.  Heather received her Bachelor of Science degree from Salem State University in Education and her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from University of Massachusetts Lowell.   She has also holds her CSCS (Certified strength and conditioning specialist) certification.  Heather is licensed in the state of Massachusetts as a Physical Therapist and is an active member of the APTA. 

As a physical therapist, Heather enjoys treating patients of all ages and orthopedic conditions; Helping patients to either avoid surgery, to strengthen pre-surgically, or to return to their highest functional level.  Heather's treatment style includes manual hands on techniques, strengthening exercises, neuromuscular re-education and functional activities proven effective in the clinic as well as in research. She also believes each treatment session needs to be tailored to the individual. 

Heather was inspired to become a therapist after sustaining a knee injury from sport and was unable to continue to compete.  It was her first experience with injury as well as physical therapy and she was grateful for the skill, expertise, and emotional support her therapist gave her   This experience and others has shaped who Heather strives to be as a therapist; She is part of your team, working hard with you to reach your individual goals.

In her free time, Heather enjoys family time with her husband and four children.  She is active in the gym, and playing golf, biking and walking and enjoys traveling and volunteering in her community.

Bret Ferrell
Boston University

Bret Ferrell is the managing partner and clinical director of Bay State Physical Therapy in Beverly, Salem and Reading.  Prior to opening the Beverly clinic in 2009, Bret was the clinical manager of Bay State Physical Therapy in Weymouth.

Bret specializes in a hands on approach to treatment of injuries to the spine and extremities.  Using spine and extremity joint mobilization techniques along with incorporating gym exercise programs has allowed Bret’s patients to achieve maximum benefit from their rehabilitation.  His experience playing soccer on the local and state levels has fueled his passion for sports medicine and helping all of his patients return to function.  Bret also enjoys giving community lectures on a wide variety of topics including: management of low back pain, ACL prevention in the adolescent athlete and shoulder rehabilitation of the throwing athlete.

Bret is married with 2 children.  Along with spending time with his family, Bret enjoys coaching his children’s sports teams, playing basketball and soccer, running in local road races and following Boston sports.

Colleen Davis
University of Vermont, University of Massachusetts, Lowell

Colleen is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Lowell Doctorate of Physical Therapy program. She received of undergraduate degree in Nutrition and Food Science from the University of Vermont.  Colleen has had a lifelong interest in health and wellness and maintains her Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist credential, Certified Personal Trainer certification and is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association. She has clinical experiences in a variety of settings including acute inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient orthopedics and pediatrics.  She is committed staying current with new research and the most current PT practices. Colleen holds a special interest in the working with both the orthopedic and neurologically involved populations, using a hands on and collaborative approach to help her patients reach their goals.

As a Massachusetts native, she enjoys the New England winters and makes a habit of skiing regularly.  In the warmer weather Colleen enjoys running, hiking and camping with her friends and family, and being outside in general playing with her dog.

Kristen Caggiano
University of Massachusetts Lowell

Kristen graduated from UMass Lowell with a Bachelor’s in Exercise Physiology and a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. She has experience working with a variety of orthopedic and neurological conditions in both outpatient and acute care settings. Kristen’s areas of interest include working with the older population, athletes, and post-operative cases.

In her free time, Kristen stays active by playing soccer and lacrosse, running and snowboarding. She also enjoys spending time with friends and family.
