Bret Ferrell

Bret Ferrell is the managing partner and clinical director of Bay State Physical Therapy in Beverly, Salem and Reading.  Prior to opening the Beverly clinic in 2009, Bret was the clinical manager of Bay State Physical Therapy in Weymouth.

Bret specializes in a hands on approach to treatment of injuries to the spine and extremities.  Using spine and extremity joint mobilization techniques along with incorporating gym exercise programs has allowed Bret’s patients to achieve maximum benefit from their rehabilitation.  His experience playing soccer on the local and state levels has fueled his passion for sports medicine and helping all of his patients return to function.  Bret also enjoys giving community lectures on a wide variety of topics including: management of low back pain, ACL prevention in the adolescent athlete and shoulder rehabilitation of the throwing athlete.

Bret is married with 2 children.  Along with spending time with his family, Bret enjoys coaching his children’s sports teams, playing basketball and soccer, running in local road races and following Boston sports.

Kate received her Bachelors of Rehabilitation Science as well as her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Northeastern University. She treats a variety of orthopedic spine and extremity injuries utilizing manual hands on techniques, therapeutic exercise and functional activities. These techniques quickly allow her patients to return to their prior or higher level of function. She also specializes in treating dizziness and balance disorders and youth/adult concussions.  Kate strives to develop an individualized treatment plan for each patient to help them reach their rehabilitation goals. She also integrates patient education into all treatment sessions in an effort to help people gain a thorough understanding of their injuries and avoid recurrence of symptoms in the future.

In her free time Kate enjoys skiing, playing tennis and traveling.  She also enjoys spending time with family and friends and going to the beach.

Kate treats patients in the Salem clinic Monday through Friday.

Ryan Andrew

Ryan received his Bachelors of Science degree in Kinesiology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2012 and then furthered his education at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, earning his Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy. He specializes in treating general orthopedic conditions that effect both the spine and extremities with a focus in sports medicine. He utilizes a specific combination of manual hands on techniques, therapeutic exercises and modalities to not only restore patients back to their normal functioning but put them in a position to prevent future injuries.

Ryan grew up playing a number of different sports including baseball, basketball and football and most recently has picked up tennis and golf. In his spare time he enjoys having fun with family and friends, exercising and cooking.

Ryan treats patients in the Salem clinic Monday through Friday.

Sharon Godbout

Sharon Godbout joined Bay State Salem in January 2016 following five years of clinical work in the acute care setting at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) in Boston.  At BIDMC, she gained valuable experience working with patients following cardiac surgery, orthopedic trauma, and neurological disorders including stroke and aneurysm.  After moving to the North Shore in January 2015, she made the decision to transition to outpatient physical therapy to return to a community oriented setting while growing her skills in manual therapy.

 

Since joining Bay State PT, Sharon has had successful relationships with her patients who present with various orthopedic injuries. She enjoys working with patients with hip, knee, and ankle injuries and incorporates yoga philosophy as well as exercise based programs to improve patient function.  She has experience working with patients after joint replacement, low back pain and shoulder injuries.  Salem’s diverse population gives her an opportunity to grow her intermediate Spanish speaking skills.  Sharon’s hope for each patient is that they will achieve their optimal health following treatment to return to an active and healthy lifestyle.

 

Sharon attended Northeastern University and graduated with her Bachelors of Rehabilitation Science in 2009 followed by her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2010.  She is married and welcomed a son in November 2016. In her free time, she enjoys practicing yoga, running half marathons, spending time outside in nature, and baking at home.

Kaila Wilson

Kaila joined Bay State Salem in July 2016.  Kaila attended Northeastern University where she received her bachelor’s in Rehabilitation Science in 2015, followed by her Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2016.  Kaila specializes in treating patients with a wide variety of orthopedic conditions of both the spine and extremities.  Kaila incorporates a variety of treatment styles into her approach in order to maximize her patient’s recovery and prevent further injuries.  She believes in not only addressing the symptoms, but the cause of the symptoms and a focus on prevention of future injuries.

Kaila always wanted to pursue a career in which she was able to help others.  She chose the path of Physical Therapy after meeting the physical therapist for the Boston Ballet at her dance studio when she was 14.  In her spare time Kaila continues to dances with the company DanceWorks Boston.  She also enjoys rock climbing, skiing, hiking, and soccer.  Kaila values spending time with her friends and family, especially her young niece and nephew.
