Jackie Brooks, PT, DPT, OCS

Graduate: University of New England

Jackie knew she wanted to pursue a career in physical therapy after completing her internship senior year of high school. She enjoyed watching patients progress through their rehab and getting back to the activities they enjoyed doing.

She attended the University of New England in Maine for both her Bachelor’s in Applied Exercise Science and her Doctorate in Physical Therapy. After speaking with multiple people who had completed physical therapy residency programs, Jackie knew she wanted to continue to learn, challenge herself, and grow as a physical therapist, in order to provide the best possible care to her patients. She moved to Houston, Texas to participate in Harris Health System’s 13-month Orthopedic Residency Program in which she had the opportunity to treat a diverse, medically complex, and under-served patient population. She also had the opportunity to teach at local PT schools, be a clinical instructor for a second year PT student, and collaborate with orthopedic surgeons and resident physicians.

After residency, she studied countless hours to broaden her knowledge in orthopedics. She became a board certified clinical specialist in orthopedics, helping her provide advanced care to her patients.

Although she loved her Houston experience, she missed New England and came back to help the people in her community. When she’s not treating patients, she enjoys teaching or participating in group exercise classes, watching football, and baking cookies.
