Injury Prevention Exercises for Your Neck

Whether you are a young athlete looking to get stronger to prevent injuries, a desk-bound worker with a desire to improve posture to reduce neck strain, or an older adult wanting to stay safe on the go, a strong cervical spine is important.

The neck bears the weight of the head (about 10-12 pounds) which is the same weight as a bowling ball! So, it should not be surprising that neck strength is a vital component of any injury prevention program.

Take Action to Address Your Neck Pain

If you or a loved one experiences neck pain that keeps you from being active as you would like, call any Bay State Physical Therapy location. Your physical therapist will perform a thorough evaluation of your neck to assess your range of motion, strength, posture, and alignment. Sometimes, where you experience the pain is not the actual source of the symptoms. Often a limitation in movement above or below the painful area causes excessive pressure on the painful area.

With individualized exercises, and an array of modalities such as electrical stimulation to reduce pain and dry needling and therapeutic massage to improve blood flow to the area, our physical therapists can relieve your pain, restore motion and help return you to your daily activities.
