Telehealth Physical Therapy & COVID-19 Precautions

At Bay State Physical Therapy, we are committed to ensuring a healthy environment for your care and scheduling options that meet your changing needs. Our teams are committed to working with you to ensure you have access to physical therapy services that help you stay on track to meet your goals while giving you the flexibility to attend visits virtually if needed.

What is Telehealth Physical Therapy?

Telehealth physical therapy allows patients to continue working with their physical therapist in a one-on-one setting and is performed via any computer or smartphone that has internet access. Sessions typically are 30-minutes in length and allow you and your physical therapist to communicate just like you would if you were in the same room. Thanks to your computer or phone’s camera, your therapist will be able to watch you to ensure you are performing your exercises or stretches safely. We encourage you to contact your insurance company to determine if they cover telehealth physical therapy.

Since 2020, our team has conducted more than 35,000 telehealth sessions! You can rest assured that your therapist knows exactly what to do to help progress your care, even if you are unable to be ‘in-person’ for every session.

What Program will I Use?

Our teams utilize a free app called “PhysiApp”, which is available for smartphones, tablets, and computers and is a free download.

PhysiApp makes it possible for you and your therapist to see and hear each other and will allow your care to continue – so you can keep on track to achieve your rehabilitation goals. You won’t need any other equipment- it’s that easy!

Telehealth Physical Therapy Keeps You Connected

Telehealth physical therapy is a great way to stay on target and achieve your rehabilitation goals by allowing you to work virtually with your physical therapist. Don’t wait to learn more, ask your physical therapist about telehealth physical therapy at your next visit, or call your nearest Bay State Physical Therapy clinic to learn more.

COVID-19 – Our Commitment to You

Our clinics are committed to providing you with a safe environment where you can receive individualized physical therapy services. While recommendations for mask-wearing and isolation continue to evolve, you can count on our team to go the extra mile to keep our clinics safe.

If you have recently tested positive for COVID-19 or have come in close contact with another individual that has recently tested positive for COVID-19, please follow the guidance of your medical provider and state and local recommendations.

Our COVID-19 Precautions

Our number one priority has always been our patients’ and staff’s health and well-being. With that as our focus, we’ve been working diligently to ensure that we continue to provide the highest-quality physical therapy services while implementing policies and procedures to keep our patients and team members safe.

COVID-19 Precautions in our Clinics

Our locations will be following the most up-to-date Federal, State, and local guidance regarding COVID-19 precautions in medical settings. This will include up-to-date guidance on the use of face masks and timelines for isolation if you’ve tested positive. If you have questions, please speak with your physical therapist.

Facemasks are available for patients and staff, so if you need one, just let our friendly staff know. Our teams will continue working hard to follow these additional precautions:

  • Handwashing and hygiene protocols with team members
  • Frequent cleaning of surfaces and equipment
  • Placed alcohol-based sanitizer in the clinics for patient and employee use
  • Coordinating with leading healthcare and infection agencies to mitigate potential risks

What To Do if You Have COVID-19

If you are a current patient and have tested positive for COVID-19 or have come in close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19, please call your Bay State Physical Therapy office where you attend care. Our Patient Care Coordinators will help with answering questions. If you are feeling well but are unable to come to the clinic for care, you can ask to have your visit scheduled as a telehealth appointment.

If you are not feeling well or if you have any of the following symptoms, please contact your clinic:

  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fever or chills
  • Sore throat
